Specialized treatment for adolescents
More and more adolescent boys and girls are affected by eating disorders. Adolescence is a complex and unique developmental period. Our approach and our interventions are tailored to the specific needs related to this age group.
Two important principles
Our experience, in addition to accepted concepts, has shown that the involvement of parents coupled with a multidisciplinary approach is directly linked to the therapeutic success of adolescents suffering from eating disorders. Our whole approach is based on these two principles.
An initial meeting with the parents and the child
This serves to determine the path to follow considering the specific issues of the adolescent in the family context. If the family decides to continue the process, we will proceed with a thorough multidisciplinary assessment in order to recommend an individualized treatment plan, tailored to the specific needs of the adolescent and his or her relatives.
The treatment designed for adolescents integrates the different spheres of school, after-school, family and social activities in the follow-up program. The objective of the BACA team is to encourage the pursuit of studies while ensuring a multidisciplinary program adapted to the severity of the disorder.
