How to recognize the symptoms

Eating disorders are characterised by invasive problematic rituals, obsessions and behaviours surrounding food, appearance and weight related issues. These manifestations are often complexe and severe and generally have a negative impact on all aspects of the individual’s life who suffers from it.

The main eating disorders are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. Various other types of eating disorders exist however, and all disorders may vary in their intensity and severity. More than one disorder can exist at the same time, and the nature of the disorder may change over time.

“I don’t want you anymore. I don’t want to see you appear anymore at each meal or every time I am hungry. I’ve had enough of your cunning and manipulation. I am hungry! I am so hungry! And there you are, watching me lose weight, watching me die, untouched and indifferent. I hate you from the bottom of my heart, from the pit of my stomach, from the depths of my being.”
