Hello, my name is Lianne Dybenko. I am a nutritionist and a member of the Ordre des di\u00e9t\u00e9tistes du Qu\u00e9bec, specializing in the treatment of eating disorders for the past 14 years.<\/strong> Eating disorders have interested me enormously since my youth, which is what directed me to the BACA team which I joined at the beginning of my career, in 2001.\u00a0I had the privilege to participate in the development of the multiple facets of BACA: the clinical aspect through the outpatient, intensive and residential programs; the educational aspect, through the training programs that I run, the supervision that I provide and the training of interns that we welcome; as well as the management of our nutritional guidelines and the proper functioning of our team.<\/p> Driven by my professionalism as well as a deep desire to learn and to specialize, I have participated in many training courses, symposiums and conferences on mental health and eating disorders across Canada and the United States.<\/strong> Passionate about psychology, I continue to educate myself by means of certificates in mental health and by multiple hours of supervision primarily targeting comorbidity complexes often related to eating disorders (personality disorders, anxiety disorders, mood disorders and substance abuse). As I believe in ongoing training, I am also a member of organizations such as ANEB and the Academy for Eating Disorders.<\/p> During my years at the BACA Clinic, I developed my expertise by working in residential and day programs, by hosting several groups and by overseeing many individual and family nutritional follow-ups. I have also run several professional training courses on the nutritional approach for people who suffer from eating disorders. Currently, my duties include the clinical supervision of nutrition, overseeing group meals, as well as outpatient nutritional follow-ups in all their forms.<\/p>
I find the work I do with my clients to be very rewarding and stimulating. I’m thrilled to be joining the BACA team as a Family Therapist, Psychotherapist and Creative Arts Therapist. Psychotherapy is a collaborative process that aims to increase psychological well-being and reduce distress. This process is grounded in a relationship: the one between you -the individual, couple, or family – and me – the psychotherapist. I strive to make the therapeutic space as safe, warm, non-judgmental, and compassionate as possible. Genuinely connecting with my clients, I work to really understand what is going on inside you. I obtained my Master of Science in Psychology from Binghamton University, State University of New York and completed all doctoral coursework. Throughout graduate school, I received a solid background in research, in assessments using semi-structured diagnostic interviews, and in the delivery of cognitive-behavioral treatments, particularly cognitive therapy for depression. During my time there, I treated adult patients with moderate to severe unipolar depression in the Binghamton Mood Disorders Institute using cognitive therapy, I worked with a heterogeneous client population for four years in the Binghamton University Psychological Clinic, and I had practicum experiences on the inpatient units at the Greater Binghamton Health Center where I was able to assess and treat severely mentally ill children and adults in both individual and group settings.<\/p>
I returned to Montreal to complete my clinical internship at the Douglas Hospital Eating Disorders Program where I received extensive training in the treatment of eating disorders. I was also fortunate enough to begin my career there as I gained many valuable experiences over the next 4 years working in the Intensive Adolescent Program and the Eating Disorders Program (adult).<\/p>
Given my research background, I believe in using evidence-based treatments focused on making concrete changes in thoughts and behaviours. By exploring their individual goals and motivations, and meeting my clients at their level of change, I use a collaborative approach to developing their treatment plan in order to be able to best guide them through the recovery process.<\/p>

I have a PhD in professional psychology.<\/strong> My initial specialization was in organizational psychology; a field for which I have developed an expertise in diversity management. Thanks to this specialization I am able to take into account the influence of culture on our modes of interaction, our styles of communication, our representations of the world and our concept of disease. It is therefore a priority for me to respect cultural differences and to take them into account in my interventions. <\/strong><\/p> In addition to being passionate about my consulting work with companies and my work in clinical psychology, I have added to my professional knowledge an expertise in the treatment of eating disorders, a problem that has interested me for many years. These two fields of practice fulfill the psychologist in me.<\/p>
When treating eating disorders, one of my priorities is to adapt my approach and the tools to be used to the person with whom I am working.<\/strong> I believe that despite the similarities encountered in eating disorder symptoms, each person is unique and deserves to be recognized and understood in the context of their own personal history. I see the therapeutic process as a team effort. We are able to find effective solutions through the exchange of our respective knowledge. My name is Erika Rossi and I have been a dedicated member of the BACA team since 2017. I am a registered psychologist with the Ordre des Psychologues du Qu\u00e9bec and completed my doctorate in clinical psychology using a developmental framework. I believe it\u2019s important to take into account each individual\u2019s unique social, cultural, and developmental background in order to best understand and help them. My interest in the unique challenges that people with eating disorders face motivated me to complete an internship at the Douglas\u2019 Eating Disorders Program where I was provided with a specialized training and an opportunity to work individually, in groups, as well with their more intensive services. Inspired by the courage and drive I found in people fighting ED\u2019s, I happily joined the BACA team in 2017 where a warm and client-centered approach is fundamental to treatment.<\/p>
My interest and work in the field of sexuality gives me a unique lens with which to work with clients. Issues ranging from systemic (e.g., poor sexual education) to personal (e.g., self-esteem or trauma) can lead to difficulties navigating one\u2019s sexuality and intimacy, causing significant distress. Along with my doctoral research on sexual development, my internship at the MUHC\u2019s Sex and Couples Therapy Service has guided my work with clients who have struggled with sexual difficulties as well as with those who are seeking to explore and understand their sexuality through a more sex-positive lens. Focusing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) during my studies, I have since integrated humanistic and psychodynamic approaches to my work as I continue to prioritize my professional development and tool kit. Seeking a more embodied approach, I have recently received my certification to practice LifeSpan Integration, a type of therapy that has shown significant benefits for my clients. I find the challenge of adapting my style to meet the individual needs of my clients satisfying and am fulfilled by the work we do together.<\/p>

My name is Caitlin O\u2019Hara and I have had the pleasure of working at BACA since August 2020 as a therapist. More specifically, I am a supervised psychologist, awaiting my license by equivalence to the OPQ.<\/p>
I hold an Honours Bachelor\u2019s degree in psychology from McGill University and completed my Ph.D. in psychology at King\u2019s College London (U.K.). For my Ph.D., I gained both clinical and research experience in the understanding and treatment of eating disorders. My doctoral research thesis focused on whether altered motivation and reward function contribute to the development and maintenance of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. More recently, I completed a Master\u2019s degree in Counselling Psychology at McGill University. During this time, I completed a one-year practicum at the Psychoeducational and Counselling Clinic at McGill and a one-year internship in the Eating Disorders Continuum (adult program) at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute in Montreal.<\/p>
I have a longstanding passion for research and working with people who suffer from eating disorders that, in part, stemmed from an early interest in better understanding the role of neurobiology and reward in the development and maintenance of symptoms. As someone who works in this field, I understand and cannot ignore that the interactions between mind, body, behavior, and interpersonal factors are complex, but this is what draws me to the work – I feel challenged and rewarded by this each day. As such, eating disorder treatment is integrated, holistic, and multidisciplinary, and this is what the BACA clinic embodies so well. I feel privileged to be able to learn from my colleagues who bring different perspectives and expertise to our care. When we work from this team-based approach, we are able to better help our clients find the strength within to return to their best level of mind-body functioning. I truly enjoy helping our clients develop the courage to face their fears, cultivate self-compassion, and accept a natural body weight, in part, by committing to wholesome mind-body strategies that will support full recovery.<\/p>
I work primarily on a one-on-one basis with my clients. People with eating disorders can often feel conflicted towards treatment. I therefore feel passionate about creating a space that feels warm, non-judgmental, and collaborative, and that communicates respect, empathy, and trust. Given that our clients can often arrive into treatment feeling alienated, distressed, and isolated in their illness, group therapeutic work is another passion of mine. Although sometimes daunting at first, working in a group setting can provide our clients with the crucial opportunity to be heard and seen by others who share similar experiences, helping them to understand that they are not alone.<\/p>
The bravery I witness in my clients on a day-to-day basis is indescribable. Know that it is never too late to seek help, that you are not alone, and that you did NOT choose to have an eating disorder. Your eating disorder has offered an effective coping strategy in a time where one was needed, and that is not something to feel ashamed of. Dispelling the shame, blame, and secrecy of eating disorders by opening yourself to vulnerability, empathy, and support can be critical for the recovery process.<\/p>

My name is Sarah Racine and I am a licensed social worker and psychotherapist.<\/p>
Wanting to work with a team of professionals prioritising recovery in a warm, welcoming environment is what led me to join the BACA team in 2020. Before joining the BACA team, I interned and worked at the Eating Disorders Clinic for the Douglas mental health Institute. This experience in a research-based environment focused on best-practices contributed to the development of my intervention skills and my interest for eating disorders and body-image related issues. I truly believe in the complete recovery from an eating disorder by acquiring better emotion regulating and coping skills, but also by learning to cultivate a more positive image of yourself. I am trained in cognitive behavior therapy and systemic approaches. I am also trained in EMDR therapy for the treatment of traumatic experiences. I have been working with victims of sexual violence since 2014 in multiple settings (community organizations, hospital and CLSC). These experiences helped me acquire a better understanding of gender-based violence and have contributed to my ability to work within a feminist and trauma focused framework. As part of the requirements for my master\u2019s degree in social work, I created and led a support group in collaboration with ANEB for individuals who are currently struggling with an eating disorder but have also been victims of sexual violence in the past. My interests for trauma and its consequences in conjunction with eating disorders bring me to contribute to more specialised research and services.<\/p>
My different professional experiences bring me to prioritise the establishment of a therapeutic alliance and a respectful and equal environment. You are the expert of your own life, and your own personal experience needs to be recognized. I strive to offer a welcoming, empathetic and non-judgemental support as well as a safe space where you will be able to discover your strengths and explore your difficulties. I recognize the complexity of the different problems one can face in life but most importantly, the possibility of working through them.<\/p>

Throughout my career, I first became interested in sexual and relational difficulties as well as sexual, gender, erotic, relational and cultural diversity. My knowledge and experience on these themes as well as my recognition of social issues allow me to welcome individuals with openness and non-judgment, regardless of their life paths and identities.<\/p>
Passionate about therapy, I first completed a one-year internship in secondary school, where I was able to support adolescents in their difficulties with body image and gender identity. , sexuality and romantic relationships. Then, I continued my training as part of a one-year internship in a clinic specializing in sexology. There, I worked with adult clients dealing with addiction issues, eating disorders, sexual dysfunction, relationship difficulties and transition journeys. Every day, I have been deeply inspired by the resilience and courage of my clients.<\/p>
I consider that sexuality and relationships are mirrors of human functioning and that the interaction of these spheres of life with the relationship to food and body image is non-negligible. I am happy to be part of the BACA clinic team to work on developing physical, sexual and relational well-being in people living with an eating disorder.<\/p>
In the therapeutic approach, I consider the client to be the expert of their experience. Having a respectful, warm, caring and flexible approach is at the heart of my practice. I want to work as a team with my clients towards achieving goals that make sense to them. En master 1, j\u2019ai explor\u00e9 le lien entre les r\u00eaves et la pens\u00e9e spontan\u00e9e, et en master 2, j\u2019ai con\u00e7u et \u00e9valu\u00e9 un programme de pr\u00e9vention des violences sexistes et sexuelles en milieu scolaire, destin\u00e9 aux adolescents, me permettant d\u2019approfondir ma compr\u00e9hension des enjeux li\u00e9s \u00e0 la jeunesse.<\/div>

Hello, my name is Gilda Corpadean Delaunay. I am a dietitian-nutritionist, member of the Ordre professionnel des di\u00e9t\u00e9tistes du Qu\u00e9bec, with over 20 years of professional experience.<\/strong> My professional journey led me to develop solid competencies in several areas of practice, such as hospital inpatient nutrition services, individual and group nutrition counselling and workshops in outpatient settings, for chronic disease management and prevention, healthy lifestyle education, and general nutrition services. In recent years, I shifted my focus toward nutritional therapy for weight and body image issues and eating disorders.<\/p> My strong interest in the treatment of eating disorders was certainly fuelled by my passion for exploring the many facets of our relationship with food<\/strong>, seeing it as an important part of ourselves and a key constituent in attaining overall good health and wellbeing. It was enhanced by my interest in understanding the psychological, cultural and social aspects of food-related behaviours. I am a dietician-nutritionist, member of the Ordre Professionnel des di\u00e9t\u00e9tistes du Qu\u00e9bec (OPDQ).<\/strong> I have over 10 years of experience. A graduate of McGill University in 2004, I completed a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, with a major in Dietetics. During my studies, I had the opportunity to do volunteer work within ANEB Qu\u00e9bec, a non-profit organization that helps people suffering from eating disorders (ED). My last university internship, within the Eating Disorder Program at the Douglas Institute, a university mental health institute, allowed me to confirm my interest and my deep desire to help people affected by these diseases.<\/p> In 2007, I joined the BACA Clinic, specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. Working with this highly qualified multidisciplinary team<\/strong>, I developed a solid expertise and a deep knowledge of the challenges that must be overcome in order to recover.<\/p> Having personally witnessed the battle of a girlfriend athlete with an ED and the suffering caused by this disease, I have been sensitive to the problems of EDs for a long time. Affected by the suffering of my clients and moved by their testimony,<\/strong> I listen attentively and with empathy to their concerns, the obstacles they face and the challenges they must overcome. The privileged relationship that I develop with them allows me to give them my support and facilitate their approach. It also helps them to find the motivation they need to change and the right strategies to succeed. In return, the courage and resilience that they demonstrate and the life lessons that I have learned from these exchanges make me a better human being and a better nutritionist!<\/p> Since I always loved sports, I developed very early a strong interest in nutrition due to my sporting activities. A true cycling enthusiast since my teenage years, I competed at the elite level. I won a number of races and climbed on many a podium in Quebec. I was Quebec Road Champion in 1983. I was also part of the back-up team for races in the United States and I participated in the Tour of Texas with the Canadian team as an invited member in 1984. In 1997, I won third place in the Quebec Road Championship. Today, I still regularly participate in sporting challenges. My passion for my work leads me to explore all opportunities for increasing my knowledge in nutrition and other topics related to eating disorders.<\/strong> I am a member of the following organizations: QPDC, ANCQ, DC (including SNN and DOC networks), DC-PEN, AED, \u00c9quilibre, FMCQ, and Diab\u00e8te Qu\u00e9bec. I am an accredited professional member of \u00c9quilibre. My name is Sara.\u00a0\u00a0 I was given the tremendous opportunity to join the BACA team in December, 2020. I have been a dietitian-nutritionist for 23 years and regulated to practice in the provinces of Quebec (l\u2019Ordre professionnel des di\u00e9t\u00e9tistes du Qu\u00e9bec) and Ontario (College of Dietitian of Ontario).<\/p>
My interest lies in working with clients struggling with binge eating disorder, dismantling diet culture and offering clients a new perspective on their relationship with food and their bodies that is empowering and enduring.<\/p>
My exploration of the eating relationship was first peaked when I attended a conference called \u201cRaising a healthy eater in a diet crazy world\u201d given by Ellyn Satter, an American dietitian and psychotherapist.\u00a0<\/p>
Satter used concepts like \u201ceating competence\u201d, \u201cTrust model\u201d and \u201cDivision of Responsibility\u201d.\u00a0 She explained that the role of the parent is to provide structure, support and opportunities for eating and the role of the child is to decide how much and whether to eat what the parent provides.\u00a0 She spoke about the importance of learning to trust yourself and your children with food & eating while getting enough enjoyable and nourishing food.\u00a0 I knew I had touched on something that met with my core values and beliefs \u2013 that is, that eating and food is much more complex and multifaceted than what we are led to believe.\u00a0 Individuals and families can learn to trust themselves with their eating.\u00a0 I felt impelled to instill this model and approach both in my professional and personal life.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>
Over the years, I continued to participate in trainings and joined organizations that shared a similar philosophy and approach. I participated in 2 seminars with \u00c9quilibre (a positive body image organization) that dealt with how to integrate the biological, sensory, cultural and psychosocial aspects of eating and to take a collaborative approach that empowers our clients.<\/p>
I became interested in Intuitive Eating and in 2019 trained to become a Certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor.\u00a0 During the pandemic, I took advantage of online opportunities to further develop my counseling skills and to obtain trainings on eating disorders. This included enrolling in a 1-year eating disorders course and two trainings on ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>
I draw on several counseling and therapy modalities including Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, DBT-RO and EFFT.\u00a0 I am a non-diet weight-inclusive HAES\u00ae aligned dietitian-nutritionist and believe in empowering individuals to achieve health and wellness on their own terms.\u00a0 And I also recognize that individuals with eating disorders may need a more directive & structured nutrition care plan that better supports them in their recovery process.<\/p>
It is important for me to continue developing my skills as an eating disorder specialist.\u00a0 I have invested myself in this process and am committed to better help my clients suffering from these complex and multifactorial disorders.<\/p>
I can understand that seeing the nutritionist for an eating disorder might cause some anxiety, fear or shame. I see my role as offering a compassionate and non-judgmental space to help you understand where things may have gone wrong with your eating, your relationship with food and your body, and how to slowly heal and repair that relationship.<\/p>
Some of the things we do in session include learning about what it means to eat \u201cnormally\u201d.\u00a0 It\u2019s understandable that hunger & fullness signals have gone awry, so I help you learn to identify and trust those signals.<\/p>
We look at identifying and challenging any false beliefs you might have around food and eating and how to incorporate those \u201cforbidden\u201d foods.\u00a0 We also explore psychological and social dimensions around food \u2013 like using food as a way to manage difficult emotions or delving into any challenges around eating with others or alone, etc.\u00a0<\/p>
You will notice that the role of the nutritionist and the therapist often overlap – this is normal since eating disorders are both \u201cAbout the Food\u201d and also \u201cNot<\/em> about the Food\u201d. This is why the nutritionist and the therapist communicate regularly to ensure the best support for your recovery.<\/p> My goal for you is to find peace with food, eating, your body and with yourself. The long-term goal is to become an intuitive eater.<\/p>

Bonjour, je suis Danya, une nutritionniste-di\u00e9t\u00e9tiste passionn\u00e9e, dipl\u00f4m\u00e9e de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 McGill et membre de l\u2019Ordre Di\u00e9t\u00e9tistes-Nutritionnistes du Qu\u00e9bec (ODNQ) depuis 2018. Durant mes \u00e9tudes universitaires, j\u2019ai choisi de faire un stage \u00e0 l\u2019institut Douglas aupr\u00e8s de personnes souffrant de troubles alimentaires, car j\u2019ai pris conscience tr\u00e8s t\u00f4t dans mon parcours de mon grand int\u00e9r\u00eat envers cette probl\u00e9matique et mon d\u00e9sir d\u2019aider les gens qui en souffrent.<\/p>
Pleine de compassion et d\u00e9sireuse de comprendre ce qui influence la relation qu\u2019entretiennent les gens envers leur alimentation, leur image corporelle et le mouvement, j\u2019ai continuellement dirig\u00e9 ma pratique et mon d\u00e9veloppement professionnel depuis mes d\u00e9buts vers le traitement des troubles des comportements alimentaires pour aider les gens qui en souffrent \u00e0 s\u2019en lib\u00e9rer.\u00a0 Je crois fermement que l\u2019alimentation, autant que l\u2019activit\u00e9 physique, devraient se faire dans la s\u00e9r\u00e9nit\u00e9 et avoir un impact positif sur le bien-\u00eatre, autant physique que mental. Chaque personne est diff\u00e9rente et unique, et ma pratique refl\u00e8te cela en combinant plusieurs strat\u00e9gies et approches selon les besoins sp\u00e9cifiques de la personne devant moi. Je vois mon travail comme une travail d\u2019\u00e9quipe avec mes clients, o\u00f9 l\u2019\u00e9coute et la construction d\u2019un lien th\u00e9rapeutique fort sont centraux.<\/p>
Je me sens fi\u00e8re et privil\u00e9gi\u00e9e de faire partie de l\u2019\u00e9quipe BACA depuis 2024, ayant toujours voulu travailler dans un milieu qui pr\u00f4ne le travail multidisciplinaire et collaborative. Chez BACA, j\u2019ai trouv\u00e9 une \u00e9quipe soud\u00e9e, empathique et comp\u00e9tente qui rejoint mes valeurs en mettant une grande importance sur l\u2019apprentissage continue, pour offrir \u00e0 mes clients le meilleur support dont ils ont besoin pour cheminer dans leur gu\u00e9rison.<\/p>
Grande amoureuse de la nature et de son potentiel th\u00e9rapeutique, j\u2019ai \u00e9galement entam\u00e9 r\u00e9cemment un Dipl\u00f4me d\u2019\u00c9tudes Sup\u00e9rieures Sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9es en Intervention par la Nature et l\u2019Aventure (DESS en INA) \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Chicoutimi, que je pr\u00e9vois compl\u00e9ter en 2026. L\u2019INA utilise la nature comme contexte th\u00e9rapeutique et la notion d\u2019aventure comme outil pour favoriser le changement ou la gu\u00e9rison. Mon souhait est d\u2019apporter ce type d\u2019intervention aux personnes souffrant de troubles alimentaires ou de difficult\u00e9s au niveau de l\u2019image corporelle, pour les aider \u00e0 surmonter celles-ci \u00e0 travers un type d\u2019intervention qui sort du cadre habituel et en compl\u00e9ment de celui-ci. Mon projet final, une exp\u00e9dition de quelques jours en nature, s\u2019adressera d\u2019ailleurs \u00e0 cette client\u00e8le et aura lieu au Saguenay au printemps 2026.<\/p>

It gives me great pleasure to be joining the BACA team as a Creative Arts Therapist. I hold a MA in Creative Arts Therapies (Drama Therapy) from Concordia University and I am a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. <\/span>I have experience in working with eating disorders at an outpatient, inpatient, and residential level. <\/span><\/p> Before joining the BACA family, <\/span>I spent two years training and working with the treatment of trauma and PTSD in New Haven, Connecticut. There, I was able to specialize in using embodied techniques to treat trauma as well as eating disorders. During this time, I also completed my training at the New York Institute for Developmental Transformations in New York City, where I continued to hone my skills at using embodied and play-based techniques to address the symptoms and underlying issues of eating disorders. <\/span><\/p> Most recently, I was a primary therapist for Monte Nido and Affiliates in Westchester, New York. Curiosity may have killed the cat, but not me! I take a strong trauma-informed approach and I\u2019m curious about how particular events or relationships may have really affected a person. I also work within a social justice frame and I am deeply dedicated to safe-space building. I genuinely want to know about the things that have happened to you and what the ripple effects have been in your life. <\/span><\/p> I am really interested in the protective function of the eating disorder and how sometimes the eating disorder emerges as a way for us to manage our anxiety during or after a difficult time in our life. I believe strongly that a full recovery from an eating disorder is absolutely possible and a large part of the work can be exploring the protective function of the ED and replacing it with a variety of other, more adaptive coping strategies. <\/span><\/p> I also believe in reducing the baseline of anxiety in general, in addition to using coping mechanisms, by re-focussing on the importance of expression. I take an emotion-based, humanistic approach where I tend to focus on fear and shame dynamics and how the avoidance of these feelings can hinder us rather than help us. <\/span><\/p> As a drama therapist, I\u2019m always wondering about the ways our stories live in our bodies and how we can better express the stuff that still needs to come out. Angie Ross, Somatic Therapist, started working at BACA in May 2022. She was presented with an opportunity to do her internship at BACA in September 2021. Working in a multidisciplinary team that operates from a philosophical premise of care, respect, and feminism is what kept her there. She began her journey as a dancer and yoga instructor before deciding to focus on the therapeutic elements of movement. Afterwards, she completed a master’s in Drama Therapy at Concordia University. It is always an honor for her to hold space and support clients as they share their stories. She loves helping clients connect to their bodies and alchemize difficult emotions, as well as helping them understand their nervous system and how movement can aid in their journey to recovery. Angie is particularly passionate about all somatic therapies, such as focus-oriented therapy and somatic experiencing. She also loves the expansiveness of using metaphors, symbols, and imagery found in drama therapy as well as dance\/movement therapy. Lastly, she wants to tell those considering seeking help for an eating disorder that, as one of her mentors would say, \u201cIntention-Attention-Action.\u201d You don\u2019t need to have it all figured out for recovery to be possible. Pay attention to the first step, then act on it.<\/p>

With a strong academic foundation in psychology and a Master\u2019s degree from McGill University in Educational Psychology, Florence is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PhD\/D.Psy) at UQAM, specializing in work and organizational psychology.<\/p>
Her counselling style is grounded in empathy, ethics, and collaboration, and she values building a safe, respectful therapeutic relationship with each client. Florence\u2019s experience is shaped by her work in both research and clinical environments, as well as her ongoing commitment to personal and professional growth. I joined the BACA team in summer of 2025 and am grateful to be part of a clinic that prioritizes collaboration, compassion, and individualized care. I hold a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Psychology from the University of Victoria and a Graduate Diploma in Youth Work from Concordia University.<\/p>
My professional background has been dedicated entirely to working with vulnerable and at-risk youth. I\u2019ve supported adolescents and young adults in community centers, schools, and non-profit organizations, where I facilitated life skills workshops and helped youth navigate challenges related to emotional regulation, self-worth, trauma, and relational difficulties. These experiences have shaped my deep commitment to meeting clients with empathy, patience, and respect.<\/p>
My passion for eating disorder work began during my undergraduate research on self-regulation strategies and disordered eating behaviours. Since then, I\u2019ve continued to develop a clinical approach that integrates developmental and ecosystemic perspectives with trauma-informed, strength-based care. I place great value on building collaborative therapeutic relationships rooted in trust, safety, and authenticity.<\/p>
I also work from a non-directive, person-centered framework, meaning I don\u2019t impose solutions but accompany clients in their own process of reflection, awareness, and change. Whether we’re exploring underlying patterns, practicing emotional expression, or identifying goals, my focus is on empowering each person to connect with their inner resources and move at their own pace. I believe strongly in the importance of goal setting, and I support clients in working toward what matters to them.<\/p>
Whether you’re navigating the early stages of recovery, feeling stuck, or simply looking for support, I hope to offer a space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. You are not alone in this journey \u2014 and healing is not only possible, but deeply deserved.<\/p>

I was part of the team from 2003 to 2010, and returning to the BACA clinic in 2022 is a great comeback for me. My career has been quite eclectic and definitely dynamic (!), and I can confidently say that my previous experience as an employee at the BACA clinic changed my life. Initially hired as a receptionist, I gradually earned the trust of Tania Lamoine and an extraordinary team who trained me to manage a helpline project. Following specialized in-house training focused on eating disorder behaviors, I then became a full-time counselor in the intensive care program at the time. I also had the chance to conduct cooking workshops for the residents.<\/p>
I still reap the benefits of this incredible experience today, which permanently solidified my self-confidence, empathy, listening skills, and love for life, food, and healthy relationships with my body. After training at the Conservatoire d’Art Dramatique de Montr\u00e9al, I pursued a freelance career in the arts and worked for seven years at the Unit\u00e9 center in St-Laurent as a counselor for asylum seekers and new immigrants. With all this experience and my heart as a mother, I am now returning to BACA as the reception coordinator for a clinic that has tripled in size but still serves the same brilliant and fascinating clientele! I am also fortunate to continue my artistic journey in parallel. Now I extend my hands to guide you towards a path where it is NEVER too late to embark; another philosophy that BACA has instilled in me: the possibilities are endless…<\/p>
